Fans of Dishonored 2 will be glad (relieved, maybe) to know that an update is coming today. The update will add a New Game Plus mode, which is actually pretty rewarding for those who didn't relegate Dishonored 2 to their backlog. Get ready to dive back into the stealthy stabby world of Karnaca. From the press release:
"Dishonored 2 offers the freedom of choice to play and improvise as you like. With this new mode, combine Empress Emily Kaldwin’s abilities with Royal Protector Corvo Attano’s signature powers to create any custom combo of multiple powers that you can imagine. Unlocked once you complete the game as either Emily or Corvo, New Game Plus lets you begin anew as either character with access to each hero’s full suite of abilities plus all the Bonecharm Traits and Runes collected from your previous playthrough that you can re-assign to choose the powers you want."
Now THAT'S a New Game Plus! All of the most important progress you made from your first run will stick with you, and during your second go around you can choose whichever abilities seem the most fun to you - no matter who you play as. We've seen a trend of player-empowerment and freedom of choice from Bethesda lately, especially with recent updates to DOOM and it's map editor. We're glad to see Bethesda honoring this philosophy with Dishonored 2 as well.
But that's not all. Bethesda is determined to make Dishonored 2 into the game we all wanted at launch, and it will be adding additional features in the future - including an oft-asked-for mission select. "Even more options to customize your experience will arrive in January with the game’s second free update that will include two new features: Mission Select and additional Custom Difficulty Settings that further tailor to your playstyle and adjust the challenge based on a wide array of settings."
