The New Year is upon us, and Niantic wants to make sure that you're not spending New Years alone. That's why it's giving you plenty of great reasons to get up and go out hunting with all of your friends. As part of the special, ongoing Pokemon Go holiday event, you're also going to have a much greater chance at catching a Partner Pokemon. Here's the deal:
Starting on December 30, the first partner Pokemon and their evolutions are going to have their encounter rates jacked way up. This means you need to be on a special lookout for Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur; Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard; as well as Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise. All of these Kanto Partner Pokemon are going to be roaming your area in greater numbers, so break out a lure module and start perusing for a partner! These encounter rates will be effective until the afternoon of January 8.
Oh, and speaking of Lure Modules: from December 30 to January 8, Niantic has also been so kind as to make your Lure Modules much more effective. After activating a module, it will last for 60 minutes instead of the usual 30 minutes. With double lure module effectiveness and encounter rates up, you should have no problem catching some new Pokemon with your friends. Get out there, pop a module, and meet some new trainers as you bring in the New Year!
By the way, don't forget to check out the other Holiday Event bonuses taking place this weekend.
