It’s been a crazy year for video games, as we’ve gotten our fair share of letdowns, surprises and genuinely good titles that completely caught us off guard. If it wasn’t something that kept us engaged in multiplayer for several hours at a time, then it was something that drew us in with an amazing single player campaign – or maybe even a combination between the two.
With that, whittling away to a top 15 games of the year list was a tough one. We had to take games that completely blew us away off the list (looking at you, Quantum Break) in favor of titles that ended up being much more defining in their own special way. But we’re still happy with the end results, as each of these games have demonstrated something great over the past year, whether you were playing through co-op with your buddies or involving yourself in a solo adventure for hours at a time.
Now, obviously our choices will differ from yours depending on perspective, and there will be people that will be going, “Wait, Overwatch isn’t number one?!” But just keep in mind that this is the opinion of the author, and I went through painstaking research to make sure that each game got its just due on the list, and the reasoning behind them is sound. So please keep that in mind, and understand I still love all these games, regardless of ranking.
Let the countdown commence!
