2017 is off to a weird start. Apparently Ariana Grande is set to become a recruitable party member in Square Enix's mobile hit Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. This, according to the pop sensation herself. Grande recently sent out a tweet stating: "I'm SO so excited to share that I'll be featured in FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS." The message has been liked and retweeted to heaven and back, so you have to know that Square Enix is loving this.

The image embedded at the top of this story also appeared on Grande's Instagram page with the caption: "Pretty little thing holds her own in a room of men in suits." She repeats the announcement made on Twitter, and follows up by urging fans to "check out my character in the game, it's the cutest thing I've ever seen in my entire life and I'm so excited and in love with it I cannot contain myself."

Well damn, do you think she's excited? Who knew that Ariana Grande was such a big Final Fantasy fan?!

For those of you not in the know, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a mobile RPG developed and published by Square Enix. It's actually a phenomenal and fully-featured RPG with some light "gacha" mechanics which allow you to spend money on power-ups and character summons. Throughout the game you'll be able to recruit and play as various characters from the Final Fantasy universe, most of whom will have to be discovered by luck.

Brave Exvius does regularly hold special event periods when new characters are revealed, and summon rates for the new characters are typically jacked up so you have a greater chance of recruiting the party member you want. We still haven't seen an official press release from Square Enix about Grande's character in game - who she is, what her name will be, or what class she'll be - but we're willing to bet that it will be fairly easy to recruit her when the time comes.

We'll keep our ear to the ground and update you as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned to WWG.

Update: Here are some sprite animations for Ariana's new character:
