We’re just over a week away from Nintendo’s big reveal of the new Switch console, including details on its launch line-up, pricing and release date. But you might want to be prepared for pre-ordering right after it’s revealed, as many stores appear to be set to launch their programs following the broadcast.
A Reddit user by the name of beyond_the_willow has noted that a letter was distributed to GameStop stores regarding the system, probably in the same package as the advertising that’s begun popping up in those stores. They indicate that pre-orders on January 13th at 12:00 AM EDT…literally an hour after Nintendo concludes its showcase. It appears that each store will only be able to have a certain number of pre-orders, so consumers may want to be at the ready.
Other retailers could be following suit as well, considering the system’s build in popularity with its official unveiling back in October, with the teaser trailer that you can find below.
GameStop has noted that the Switch pre-order will program will “have more information soon following Nintendo’s event/presentation next week,” so it sounds like something is certainly in the works. It never hurts to have your pre-ordering skills ready. After all, it paid off for some of you with the NES Classic Edition, right? (SOME of you, anyway.)
We’ll have more information as details on the Nintendo Switch come out next week, as well as full details on when it launches, what games will be made available, and how much you’ll need to fork over for it. We’re certainly down, especially based on what we’ve seen so far. It’s not often you get both a Mario game and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for launch, after all.
Be sure to check back for all the updates on the Switch!
