The Rock Approves of Terry Crews As Doomfist In Overwatch

by Robert Workman

It’s pretty evident by now that millions of fans of Blizzard’s competitive action game Overwatch want actor Terry Crews involved with the project, especially when it comes to voicing the mysterious character Doomfist.

We reported the other day that Crews was enthusiastically prompting fans to vote for him as the character, and we previously noted not only his recent visit to Blizzard, but also a video showcasing just how effective he would be within the game, even with previously recorded sound bites.

But now Crews has received his most glowing endorsement to date, and Blizzard would be nuts not to pay attention to him now – because it’s an endorsement from the one and only The Rock.

Yep, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who’s starring in the forthcoming The Fate of the Furious and the big-screen reboot of Baywatch this summer, has put his support behind Crews, noting on Twitter, “100 Co-Sign. Known TC for years and this man’s voice even has bad assery muscles. Fans would luv it. #Doomfist.” He then quoted Crews’ previous tweet, asking fans, “Who wants to hear me do the voice of Doomfist for real??”

Blizzard still has yet to include the character in the line-up for Overwatch, though it has teased that the game will see some big updates this year, including the addition of a character that fans would absolutely love. If that is Doomfist, well, it certainly would help to bring Crews along for the ride. “Explosionnnnn!”

We’ll see what comes this year, but hopefully Blizzard is listening. So far, it’s already given in to a number of fan demands, including seasonal events that unlock special outfits for each of the characters, as well as new additions to the game. So, of course, Doomfist would just be the icing on the cake for 2017.

Overwatch is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
