James Gunn Really Wants To Play Mass Effect: Andromeda, and BioWare Knows It

by Robert Workman

Hey, we all want to play Mass Effect: Andromeda when it drops in a couple of months, right? Know who else does? Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn.

Earlier on this week, Gunn noted in a tweet that he can’t wait to play the game. “Right now, I am just trying to clear my schedule after Guardians comes out so I can play Mass Effect: Andromeda,” he noted, adding in another tweet, “Of cours. Everyone to the end” when asked if he was a fan of the original ME trilogy.

Gunn and Mass Effect have big ties together, as the director used the series to influence the direction he wanted to take the Guardians films, according to this tweet. “Besides the comics – Mass Effect (along with Flash Gordon, Farscape, Star Wars and some others) were my biggest inspirations,” he admitted.

To kind of go along with the praise, BioWare felt it was a good time to release a new screenshot from the forthcoming Andromeda, featuring a mysterious new hero and their ship sitting in the background of a dark yet beautiful planet – something that’s very close in fashion to what we’ve seen in the Guardians of the Galaxy films (but, you know, without the crazy raccoon).

Flynn shared the screenshot, seen above, on Twitter, noting, “Thanks to James Gunn for his kind words and excitement about Mass Effect: Andromeda. Have a new screenshot!” Indeed, we all benefit from Gunn’s love for the series…and, no, we can’t wait for it either.

Mass Effect: Andromeda releases on March 21st for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Origin PC. As for those that can’t wait to see Gunn’s latest work in action, you can catch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arrive in theaters on May 5th. Now here’s the real question – can we get some kind of cross-over DLC for the game? C’mon, how cool would it be to run into Star-Lord and company? Hopefully Disney’s listening…
