Hyperkin Reveals New Accessories For Nintendo Switch, Retron 5 Expansion

by Robert Workman

It was a busy week this past week for the team at Hyperkin, as it revealed a number of new accessories at their booth not only for the Nintendo Switch, but also its multi-function retro console, the Retron 5 as well.

First, we’ll cover the regular accessories, which are pictured below. For the most part, they’re pretty basic accessories, but good necessities for those that need them. They include a Hyperkin Charge Cable for Switch with five feet of stretching room; a Hyperkin AC Adapter for Switch if you need power on the go; a Hyperkin Car Charger Adapter for Switch that’s ideal for long road trips; a Hyperkin Screen Protector for Switch that keeps your system protected, a Hyperkin EVA Hard Shell Carrying Case for your portable portion of the Switch; and a Hyperkin Travel Bag for Switch that holds your system, games and more. All these items are pictured below.

In addition, though, perhaps the thing that will be of bigger interest to retro gaming fans is the introduction of a new add-on for the Retron 5 that enables three more systems to be played on the system. By plugging in this cartridge, you’ll now be able to play Game Gear games, along with older games for the Sega Master system – both cartridge and the plug-in cards! This is big news, as it adds more playable systems to the console – like the less-than-a-dozen it supports right now. And don’t forget it has HDMI support, too!

These devices will release sometime in Q1 2017!
