Titanfall 2’s Next Updates Bringing More Maps, But Less Titans

by Robert Workman

Respawn Entertainment is continuing to bring top-notch content to its hit shooter Titanfall 2, as its next update will introduce a number of new maps, as well as an interesting new mode that takes Titans out of the equation.

The new mode is called Live Fire, with two specially made maps that are only playable in this mode. In it, you’ll need to engage in a general six-on-six multiplayer battle without any Titans. Yep, that means you’ll be doing everything with just the pilots, and fighting to survive until one of the teams is eliminated, or you have hold of a flag when time runs out.

Stacks and Meadow are the maps you’ll be able to play on. “These two maps are tight, enclosed death boxes designed specifically for the fast-paced, intense nature of the mode,” the company noted in a blog post.

There will also be a Titan-friendly map called Columns, a Coliseum style map; as well as new Pilot execution animations, and “new Commander intros for each faction,” adding a little bit of personality.

A new interface will also be on display for Titanfall 2’s playlist screen, as splitting game modes between two screens has been a headache for some. “Our goal is to allow players to create their own ‘mixtapes’ and choose which modes they want to be matched in,” the company said.

The update will be free of charge, but doesn’t have a release date just yet. We should expect it to arrive sometime in the next few weeks.

Titanfall 2 is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
