Nintendo is killing it with the Nintendo Switch marketing and promotion lately. As a life-long Nintendo fan, I can't tell you how happy that makes me. I'm especially excited to see these incredible commercials since the past few years were such a blunder for the Wii U. In addition to a fantastic 30 second spot featuring The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Nintendo also pushed out this extended ad featuring many more games:
So what were all of those games that you just saw, and when can you get your hands on them? We've got the full recap right here:
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (March 3)
The launch game everyone is looking forward to, and one of the most anticipated games of the year. You can find my hands-on preview right here, which includes footage of the game running on TV mode and in handheld mode.
1-2 Switch (March 3)
Another exciting launch title meant to show off everything those JoyCon controllers are capable of. Whenever you see the bizarre clips of people milking cows together, competing in a quick-draw duel, or performing other crazy and physical tasks, this is the game you're seeing. This will be a huge hit at parties.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (April)
Mario Kart 8 is the perfect racing game, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe perfects it further with the addition of new drivers, a new item system, visual upgrades, and a completely new battle mode. You can find my hands-on footage of the game running in TV mode and handheld mode here.
ARMS was the break-out hit of the Nintendo Switch preview event. It took everyone by surprise, and people kept coming back for third and fourth rounds. This game is addictive, fun, and deep. Just wait until we start seeing players duking it out at a highly competitive level - the footage will be crazy. See my hands-on preview with footage here.
Splatoon 2 (summer)
Splatoon is Nintendo's most successful and most important new IP. The original proved that Nintendo could enter the shooter genre, which is so crowded with homogeneous lookalikes, and make something fresh, fun, colorful, and competitive. Splatoon 2 is going to be a smash hit when it releases this summer; check out some footage of me playing the game right here.
Just Dance 2017 (March 3)
The launch title that introverts everywhere will love to play in dark rooms on their own, and avoid like the plague when they see it out in public! Just Dance is just as wonderful and gratifying as singing in the shower for nerds like me, and a total guilty pleasure that we can't wait to revisit.
What needs to be said? This is a classic refreshed and spruced up for modern times. You can change the aesthetic of the game from the old-school 16-bit models to touched up HD models at any time, and you'll be able to compete online against fighters from all over the world. This will be a no-brainer for Street Fighter fans.
