As reported, this weekend Activision will be hosting a Double XP weekend for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. This is your chance to level up, crack that next prestige, or else hoard some salvage to unlock that next prototype weapon. That should give you and your buddies incentive to hop in this weekend and play a few games.
On top of it all, Activision is also bringing the Mayhem Team Deathmatch game mode back for you to indulge your wilder side.
Introducing Mayhem! This Friday jump on our TDM with a twist playlist. Scorestreak progress continues after 💀. Switch up those scorestreaks! pic.twitter.com/s2tuGzSSL9— Infinity Ward (@InfinityWard) February 16, 2017
Mayhem TDM will go live around noon central today, and will be live until noon on Friday, February 24.
This game type will definitely crank up the speed of play and make things more interesting for those of you who are tired of the same old thing. As noted in the tweet, scorestreak progress will continue for all players after death, so everyone is going to be unlocking and using their scorestreaks constantly throughout the game. Advanced UAV, scorestreak drops, drones... They're going to be everywhere, and you're going to die. A lot.
I love these game types because they force everyone to play differently. If you're a serious player then you'll have to play more defensively than you might otherwise, because this is no longer a constant round of player-vs-player duels; you now have to contend with overpowered scorestreaks from all angles. Less-skilled players will finally get a chance to use some of those large scorestreaks that they may never get the chance to use otherwise.
For those of you who play Destiny, you're probably familiar with Mayhem Clash, and all of the madness that brings to the standard TDM formula. That was always my favorite game mode because it put everyone on the same, ridiculously overpowered playing ground, and Call of Duty's Mayhem game mode is set to do the same thing. We can't wait!
