The Latest Speedrunning Competition? Getting Banned From Club Penguin

by Robert Workman

Even though the Club Penguin website is just over a month away from shutting down for good (in favor of a “new experience” coming soon from the creators), a few savvy gamers have decided to set up a new speedrunning contest with the site – who can get banned from it the fastest.

Usually, speedruns consist of who can complete a game in the fastest time possible, even if that means taking part in collecting stuff along the way. But Club Penguin is much different, as players are competing to see who can fill out the profile, get accepted on the site, and then get banned by saying a curse word or something inappropriate along those lines.

The times for getting banned are being posted here, and it appears that the quickest time to register and get blocked from the site is just under 40 seconds – though people are competing to try and beat that.

But there are rules, so don’t even think about cheating. This includes not using auto-fill URL’s, nor auto-fill names, as well as pre-existing emails or using bookmarks. You literally have to type everything out and make sure it properly registers – and having video of the banning certainly helps to show how credible it is.

And you pretty much just have one shot a day to get it done, unless you get banned from Club Penguin’s website permanently, which has been known to happen to repeat offenders. So make sure you plan your run carefully – and, again, no cheating – to make sure you can get the fastest time possible.

Good luck to those that take part in the Speedrun, and, hey, for once make use of a game with penguins in it, yeah?
