Epic Games has been quite busy these days breaking new ground with its innovative MMO action game Paragon. But now it’s got another project in the works, and it’s using this week’s Game Developers Conference to show it off fro the first time.

The company has revealed Battle Breakers, a frenetic tactical role-playing adventure that will be available on both mobile and PC platforms. The game utilizes Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 technology, and also promises cross-platform play across both mobile and PC, so that players can take on one another in battle.

The game has already launched in the Philippines, but will launch later this year in other markets. Those that are in attendance at GDC this week will be able to check it out at Epic’s booth.

The team at Epic had this crazy idea that if we combined our passion for zany 80’s Saturday morning cartoons with our obsession for tactical turn-based RPGs, we might just create something awesome and unique,” said Donald Mustard, Worldwide Creative Director at Epic Games. “If you’re anything like us you’ll be humming the Battle Breakers theme and grinning from ear to ear as you battle your way to victory.”

Battle Breakers features hundreds of unique characters to choose from, including ninjas, knights, robots and talking dinosaurs, all of whom can be added to your battle party. You’ll be able to take on all sorts of monsters from the deep reaches of space, fighting across ice sheets, lava fields and ancient forests, using a number of tactics to your advantage. You’ll also be able to uncover hidden treasures in crystals and power up your heroes as you attempt to take back the kingdom one step at a time.

Kudos to Epic for announcing its next, ahem, epic project. We’ll have more details in the months ahead!
