With the recent announcement of Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, we can't help but yearn for a trend of popular movie franchises making the jump to gaming. Sure, we've been pretty spoiled the last few years with games like Alien: Isolation and Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, but we want more.
And we're not just talking about interactive storytelling a la Telltale games. We're happy properties like Fables, The Walking Dead and Guardians of the Galaxy are getting their dues, but when you're sitting on 80 years of cinematic history, the possibilities are endless.
There's also Star Trek, which has been with Bandai Namco. Cryptic Studios and Ubisoft in the last few years. There's was a self-titled third person shooter that was pretty alright, the fairly successful Star Trek Online and the upcoming Star Trek: Bridge Crew, a virtual reality piloting experience.
And then of course there's EA and Star Wars. So far we've gotten Star Wars: Battlefront, a AAA take on the classic shooter with a Battlefield-like twist. The game was moderately received, as critics praised the game's visuals and understanding of the Star Wars world, but slammed its lack of content, shoddy season pass pricing and somewhat toxic community. Oh, and the game had no single player. Though there is plenty still to come from EA and Star Wars, so we're convinced the franchise is in good hands.
Here are five film franchises we'd like to see turn into stellar games.
