Right from the beginning Xbox owners have been able to use their controllers to play computer games, and Sony recently made the DualShock 4 PC-compatible as well, which leaves just one console-maker out of the PC-gaming party. Of course, Nintendo has always been very closed off when it comes to their hardware, so most fans figured Nintendo controllers working on PC was just a pipe dream.
Well, it turns out we were wrong to doubt. As YouTuber DreWoof discovered, the new Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is, in fact, PC compatible. You can check out a video of him using the controller to play Super Smash Bros. Melee (via the Dolphin emulator), above.
Connecting the Pro Controller isn’t even particularly difficult – just hold down the Share button to put it into pairing mode, then find the controller in your PC’s Bluetooth settings, connect, and you’re good to go! You can watch a walkthrough of the process, below.
There’s been a lot of grumbling about the Pro Controller’s $70 price tag, but the fact that it can be used as PC gaming controller could really increase its value in some people’s eyes.
You can get your grubby mitts on the Pro Controller when the Nintendo Switch launches on March 3.
