A little game released earlier this week. You may have heard of it.
While Horizon: Zero Dawn for the PlayStation 4 is not in its essence a "dinosaur" game, it surely has a dynamic world full of robot dinosaurs and other assorted wildlife. The game, in all of its wonder, brings something to gaming that is rarely seen: a pure sense of adventure and discovery.
Oddly enough, we had a similar reaction to Jurassic Park the first time we saw it, of course, aside from the murderous dinosaurs. But to be completely fair, that was mostly our fault. There have been plenty of dinosaur games to grace the smaller screen, from monster collecting titles like Fossil Fighters, to the tattered wasteland of Ark: Survival Evolved.
Dinosaurs are one of those things in games that just seem to work, yet there's never enough of it. Heck, even the Zoo Tycoon series dabbled in dinos with a prehistoric expansion. Oh, and of course, the relentlessly difficult licensed Dinosaur game for the Game Boy Color.
Anyway, if Horizon: Zero Dawn didn't quite scratch that dino itch, hopefully one of these five titles can do it for you.
