Grab your helmet and a sturdy pair of boots, because Battlefield 1 returns to the trenches tomorrow with the They Shall Not Pass expansion. The new DLC puts you in control of hardened French soldiers as they make a stand against the Germans at the Battle of Verdun, and will contain the new Frontlines mode with two maps designed specifically for it, two additional maps for use in other modes, two tanks, a new elite class, and much more!
Honestly, it’s hard to keep track of all the Battlefield 1 additions on the way. Thankfully, IGN posted a thorough video rundown, which details everything you get with the new expansion. You can check it out, above.
They Shall Not Pass serves up six new weapons, including the Ribeyrolles 1918 automatic rifle, which features both a bayonet and tripod, so you can stab and snipe your enemies with it. I particularly like the look of the powerful Sjögren shotgun, which can blow the enemy away from surprisingly long range. It looks a bit overpowered, but that’s okay by me!
We also get a look at the new badass Trench Raider elite class, who batters enemies to death with a brutal spiked mace. This guy also appears to be a speedy devil, too, so watch your back. Other new additions include a huge howitzer artillery cannon, the boxy St. Chamond assault tank, and the massive Char 2C behemoth.
Finally, we get a look at the four new maps you’ll be battling over. These include the hellish, burning Verdun Heights, the muddy foxholes and secret passages of Fort De Vaux, the beautiful (if it wasn’t swarming with tanks) Soissons, and poppy fields and trenches of Rupture. Battlefield 1 is definitely delivering a heavy shell full of classic World War I imagery with this expansion.
Battlefield 1: They Shall Not Pass explodes on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on March 14.
