As we inch ever closer to the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda, BioWare has teamed up with IGN to introduce players to the game’s many colorful squadmates. Yesterday we met the alluring Jaal, and now we get to know the significantly-less-cuddly Drack.
Drack fills the “grumpy old-timer” niche on your squad. Drack is one of your most loyal squadmates, as he’s dedicated to helping his granddaughter, who happens to be superintendent of the Nexus space station you’ll be using as your home base. Here’s how Mass Effect: Andromeda writer Cathleen Rootsaert describes the space lizard’s personality…
"Nakmor Drack is probably one of the most hardcore of our squadmates, because he is, in fact, the oldest Krogan we've met in the Mass Effect universe. Drack may come off as an old curmudgeon, but he is lovable in the curmudgeonly way, and he's certainly somebody who's going to tell it like it is, especially to the Pathfinder, especially to Ryder. He calls Ryder 'Kid' and he really sort of takes Ryder under his wing as they head out into Helios to find a new home.
Drack is a typical Krogan in that he likes a good fight. Whether he's fighting Kett or random aliens in a bar, he can really mix it up. We're finding people are really enjoying taking Drack on those long drives across the UNC. His dry sense of humor never fails to make me laugh."
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Drack doesn’t seem to be getting as much attention and sexy fan art as purple cat man, Jaal. That’s okay by me – you need somebody to keep their space pants on and keep the ship running. I have a feeling Drack will be a regular member of my squad, if only to keep everybody else in line.
