SXSW Game Award Nominees All On Sale for Limited Time

by Matthew Hayes

SXSW is still raging in Austin Texas, and this weekend, we'll see who and what take home the SXSW Game Awards in various categories. "The SXSW Gaming Awards recognizes the greatest titles, teams, and individuals from across the gaming industry. Since its premiere in 2014, the show has exploded in attendance to become a must-see stop for thousands of attendees during the SXSW Conference and Festivals."

To celebrate the indie games nominated for awards, GOG (good old games) is offering all of them at a special discount! All of the games are going to be on sale for a limited time. At the time of writing this article, we have a little less than three days left in the sale, so you'll have to act fast.

All of the games featured are smaller indie projects, but they're all incredible and absolutely worth checking out. Here's the full line-up:

  • Orwell - $7.49
  • Firewatch - $9.99
  • The Witness - $19.99
  • Reigns - $1.49
  • Reigns Collector's Edition Upgrade - $1.49
  • 1979 Revolution: Black Friday - $4.79
  • 1979 Revolution: Black Friday - Original Soundtrack - $2.39
  • Oxenfree - $4.99
  • Inside - $13.99
  • Owlboy - $18.74

I'm loathe to choose just one game to recommend above the others, but if you put a gun to my head and forced me to pick, I'd have to recommend The Witness. This is one of the most important games I've ever played in my 28 years of gaming. Not only is it one of the most thoughtful and intelligently designed puzzle games you'll ever encounter, it also delivers some really potent philosophy in such packaging as to never feel preachy or condescending.

Make sure to stay tuned tomorrow to see the winners, which should be announced in the later evening hours. "In addition to highlighting the best that the gaming industry has to offer, the SXSW Gaming Awards also provide great entertainment with a star-studded lineup of hosts and performances. Previous hosts and guests include Jacksepticeye, Rachel Quirico, Markiplier, Starbomb, Cirque du Soleil, and many more.

"Whether you’re in the industry or a fan who loves games as much as we do, we invite you to take a look at how you can be a part of the magic at the 2017 SXSW Gaming Awards."
