We’ve been seeing a steady stream of news for Injustice 2 over the past few weeks, including new character reveals and features. But there’s still a question that’s lingering fresh in the minds of many gamers – what about crossovers from television and movies?
You may recall that with the original Injustice: Gods Among Us, players were able to use the TV version of Oliver Quinn, aka the Green Arrow, within the game. So some players are wondering if we’ll see something along those lines with the sequel.
Ed Boon, the producer behind the game, recently spoke with French gaming site Gameblog about the possibilities of such characters coming over into the game. He was a bit cryptic in his answer, but there’s still some kind of hope.
“We are clearly open to that idea. We did not announce any of them but on the consoles and mobile versions of Injustice we had guest characters from the television series (and) also movies. I would be surprised if we did not add characters like that (in Injustice 2). But we did not announce anything yet.”
The DC film/television universe is ripe with stars that could make crossovers to Injustice 2. For instance, we’d give our right arm (okay, maybe our right pinky, we need to write stories) to see Melissa Benoist pop up with a Supergirl skin within the game. For that matter, seeing a Ben Affleck version of Batman emerge wouldn’t be a bad thing either, especially considering that Warner Bros. wants to get the ball rolling on Justice League promotion as it nears its release later this year. And, yes, we want Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. This isn’t even a question.
More than likely, we’ll see NetherRealm Studios (the development team behind the title) roll through more character announcements and features over the next few weeks, and, when the game arrives this summer, then Warner Bros. will shift gears and introduce guest star skins that will be available in the game. For the time being, be patient – you know these crossovers are more than likely coming, and they’re bound to be awesome.
