Dead Rising 4 Getting New DLC Next Month

by Robert Workman

With its release this past December, Dead Rising 4 came at a good time for Xbox One and Windows 10 players, offering plenty of stress-relieving zombie bashing fun just in time for the holidays. But what’s to come for the game now that the holiday season has come and gone? Well, plenty, actually.

Microsoft and Capcom have announced a release date for the forthcoming story downloadable content for Dead Rising 4, and it takes Frank West into dangerous – and somewhat hilarious – new territory.

In the new single player mission that’s being added to the game, Frank finds himself infected by the zombie plague and making his way through Williamette. He receives some help from an old friend and proceeds to work on producing a cure for the virus, but, of course, will have to battle the odds of the undead along the way.

New abilities become opened up over the course of the new chapter, but there’s an interesting new wrinkle – Frank is no longer able to recover health by eating regular food. Instead, he’ll have to consume human flesh to avoid running out, an interesting take considering, well, he’s been beating the crap out of zombies since the whole thing began.

On top of that, a new mini-game is coming with the DLC pack, and it provides a new, ahem, swing on things. That’s because Frank will be able to partake in a humorous new mini-gold game called Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf, and it’s as awesome as it sounds. Along with being able to swing away at targets and holes on courses with up to four players, the game features a number of extras, including audio commentary (during a golf game!), unlockable goodies and more.

The story DLC and the mini-golf game are $9.99 apiece in standalone form, or you’ll be able to snag them both as part of the game’s Season Pass package, which is well worth it just to say “I played mini-golf dressed as Zangief and fighting zombies!” Let’s see EA’s The Masters series do that. The DLC is set to arrive on April 4th, so prepare to get your wackiness on!

There’s no word yet on when the content will come to Steam, but sometime this summer is more than likely.

Dead Rising 4 is available now for Xbox One and Windows 10, as well as Steam.
