Cheetah is shaping up to be one of the most diverse characters on the Injustice 2 roster, featuring an impressive moveset that hinges on mixups. We get a great look at Cheetah in action in the latest character introduction video from NetherRealm, which was just pushed to the official Injustice channel. Check it out above, and start sharpening those claws; Cheetah looks like she's going to be a ton of fun to play.
From the ground, from the air, nearby, and far away... No matter where Cheetah is in relation to her opponent, she poses a major threat. I'm having a hard time deciding right off the bat whether I want to call her a striker primarily, because she has so many mixups and mid-combo grab moves that I'm tempted to call her a grappler.
You can plainly see, though, that Cheetah makes extensive use of her claws, on all four limbs, to tear her opponents to shreds. Her powerful legs are capable of launching foes across the screen and into the air where they become vulnerable and susceptible to mid-air juggles. Those juggles, mixed with quick strikes and brutal three and four-hit combos, will likely push your friends and enemies back a bit to create some space, but they'll soon find that Cheetah is just as deadly at medium range.
Check out the string of attacks starting at the 0:29 mark. Cheetah can jump into the air and then perform a lateral dive toward opponents, tackling them to the ground before tumbling and kicking them into the air again. From there, it's back to the rag-doll juggling in a combo that ends in a brutal drop kick. We see Deadshot take a hop toward Cheetah, which was a mistake as she's more than capable of grabbing foes in mid-air as well. We see Cheetah catch Deadshot in mid-boost, swing him around, and slam him back to the ground.
This mixture of ground and air aggression plays out throughout the entire highlight video, and we can tell that Cheetah is going to be a favorite for the more technical fighters who like to keep their opponents guessing.
Don't miss the action at 0:45, where we see a brand new stage transition. Robin smashes into the Batwing, knocking it into auto-pilot. Hanging desperately from the front he's taken on a terrifying ride through a launch tunnel before being smashed through a wall and into the next section of the stage. It's one of the more cinematic transitions, and we love it.
If you've missed any of the past character reveals, we're now looking at 25 officially confirmed characters in the Injustice 2 roster. We've them all -- along with their bios -- right here.
