“Come and get your love,” Marvel fans, because the wait for Telltale Games’ Guardians of the Galaxy series is just about over.
As previously reported, the series is set to kick off on April 18th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Steam/PC and mobile devices, and can be pre-ordered here for those that want the full episodic series physically.
The first chapter of the series is called Tangled Up In Blue, and will be available to download starting on the 18th, priced at $4.99. Of course, if you prefer, you can do a pre-order for the full season and get all five episodes at a discount. Those that want to pre-order that on PlayStation will score a nice deal out of that, with an exclusive premium theme featuring characters from the game.
The physical version of the game will arrive on May 2nd, with the first episode already unlocked and the others becoming available as soon as they release digitally. Knowing the Telltale scheduling, that should be on a monthly basis, so we’ll likely see the next episode follow sometime around Memorial Day or even sooner.
Story details haven’t been revealed just yet, but it looks like Thanos, the main baddie that was hinted at in the Avengers films and appeared in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film (voiced and portrayed by Josh Brolin), will be playing a part, as one of the screenshots indicates that he’ll be getting in a tussle with the Guardians, utilizing great power in an attempt to do so. Considering that he’ll be a big figure in the forthcoming Infinity War, it doesn’t hurt to have him ramp up his fury in the Guardians game series.
That screenshot aside, there’s also a great shot of the cast getting ready to do battle, which means we’ll be seeing plenty of Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Drax, Gamora and regular-sized Groot (different from the baby version in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), and making decisions based around their actions. We can’t wait.
Marvel, which officially revealed the news today, will have a trailer from the game soon, and we’ll debut it here when it goes live. Bring on the Groot!
