Injustice 2 is just a little over a month away at this point, and the initial roster is almost entirely revealed. We've seen 27 characters announced so far, and you can find each and every one of them in our wrap-up here.
While the initial roster is almost fully revealed, we still have a lot to get excited about. It's been revealed that Injustice 2 will feature the most expansive cast of DLC characters of any NetherRealm game, so we know there are still many more exciting reveals to come. We also know that NetherRealm loves its cross-overs, and Mortal Kombat's Scorpion made it into Injustce: Gods Among Us.
Ed Boon has been putting out feelers to see what other guest characters we might like to see in Injustice 2, and we know a few Mortal Kombat characters who would fit right in. Keep scrolling to see our dream line-up.
There's something so exciting about watching two villains duke it out. When you have a favorite villain, you tend to imbue him or her (or it) with this untouchable, otherworldly evil power. Then, in any kind of video game or film cross-over, you find yourself rooting for your villain as the ultimate villain. Your flavor of evil as the ultimate flavor of evil.
That's why we want to see Goro going toe-to-toe with some monstrous DC super villains like Gorilla Grodd or Bane. Would Scarecrow be frightened by this four-armed Shokan champion? Goro went 500 undefeated in the Mortal Kombat tournament, so no doubt he'd be looking down on all of these so-called heroes and villains with utter contempt. The smack-talk would be intense.
Raiden is arguably the most powerful being in the entire Moral Kombat universe. With the power to control lightning, fly, and teleport, we imagine he'd fit right in with this roster of superhumans.
Imagine Raiden vs. Black Adam. Who's the greater sorcerer, and who has the greater command over lightning as a weapon? We imagine Superman and Supergirl would also serve as interesting matches, since they're both basically demi-gods. Aquaman, on the other hand, will want to stay far away from this one.
Most of the female heroes we have in Injustice 2 are flippant, wise-cracking badasses, and I think that Kitana would provide a pretty severe contrast. I can't help but grin at how strange and wonderful a match-up between Kitana and someone like Harley Quinn would be.
More interesting still would be a match-up between Kitana and Wonder Woman. Both are incredibly old, both have world-dominating parents of sorts, and both wield seemingly normal-looking weapons in supernatural ways. And what the heck; both are pretty easy on the eyes.
More cyborgs. We can always use more cyborgs. Injustice 2 already has a Cyborg in... well, in Cyborg, but we wouldn't mind seeing a few more robot ninjas, you know? Between Cyrax, Smoke, and Sektor, we think that Cyrax looks and feels like the more iconic Mortal Kombat cyborg.
He also has a really diverse and interesting move-set that we'd love to see recreated in a more modern game. He'd be a fantastic zoning character with his bombs and energy net, but he also has a really strong defensive and technical game. He's capable of teleporting behind unsuspecting opponents and performing air throws, so we imagine he'd be a great mixup character. Interestingly, I feel like Cheetah would be another great match-up since she has a great mix of close and long range attacks.
Of all of our choices, Sub-Zero seems the most likely to actually make it into Injustice 2. It was Scorpion (the original Sub-Zero's murderer) who made it into the original Injustice, and we'd say it's a toss-up between which masked warrior is more popular. I've always been partial to Sub-Zero myself, and we could count on a really cool Noob Saibot alternate skin if he makes it in. Please, NetherRealm. Please make this happen.
