WWE And Sega Tag Team For New Tap Mania Mobile Game

World Wrestling Entertainment has done a pretty good job of dominating the mobile market, between the popular digital card game WWE SuperCard and the puzzle/wrestling game WWE Champions. But now it’s found a new company to tag team with, and is ready to tackle the mobile market once again, this time with a new game experience.

The company has announced that it has teamed up with Sega to produce a new mobile experienced called WWE Tap Mania, which will be set up as a free-to-play experience with in-app purchases. Though the company didn’t note what kind of game it would be, it sounds like it’s going to rely on a simplistic gameplay method, rather than something elaborate like what we saw with SuperCard (from 2K) and Champions (from Scopely).

“At Sega, we like to find new ways to bring brands and experiences to a wide mobile gaming audience,” said Naoki Kameda, chief operating officer for Sega’s mobile division in the U.S., speaking with GamesBeat. “This partnership with WWE presents a fresh opportunity for collaboration. Working with WWE, a monumental leader in global entertainment, along with The Tap Lab, a studio known for crafting action-packed games that are fun at their core, we’re confident that WWE Tap Mania will delight WWE fans worldwide.”

Casey Collins, WWE executive vice president of consumer products, added, “We are always looking to engage our global fan base in new and exciting ways. Partnering with industry leader Sega is a great opportunity for us to continue our mobile game strategy while bringing in new fans with WWE Tap Mania.”

The Tap Lab is responsible for a number of popular games on the mobile market, including the Adventure Time-licensed BMO Snaps, Tiny Tycoons, and Bigfoot Hunter, amongst countless others. That doesn’t quite paint a picture of what kind of gameplay to expect from Tap Mania, but at least we know the studio will put its best foot forward when it comes to providing addictive gameplay. And it should feature a who’s who of WWE superstars, though a final roster has yet to be revealed.

We should see WWE Tap Mania sometime later this year for mobile devices.
