Today marked the release of the fifth trailer in the Shattered Alliances series that will be part of Injustice 2, and it laid all the cards on the table this time around, as Brainiac made his move in an attempt to overtake the Earth, with Superman, Batman and others attempting to step up and stop him.
If you missed the trailer we posted earlier today, don’t sweat it – a YouTuber by the name of Punish has managed to put together all the Shattered Alliances trailers into one massive one, so you can see it all in one shot.
Shattered Alliances has done a great job of setting up the story for the game thus far, with little events taking place that really tie in to a much bigger picture, including an uprising being led by Gorilla Grodd, a rise to power for Supergirl, a questionable loyalty factor for Superman, and, of course, Brainiac stepping in and insisting he’s smarter than everyone else (and, for good measure, actually proving he just might be with his tentacles and fellow minions).
The saga began with Batman coming face-to-face with Superman, and other heroes making an appearance over the course of the trailer, including the likes of Supergirl and Cyborg, amongst other characters. But as it builds, we start to see more of how the battle will play out.
With the second chapter, we start to see the characters coming together in a bit, but still being at odds, especially with the Green Lantern. But it’s kind of interesting to see certain alliances come together, like with Harley Quinn actually palling up with former adversaries.
Supergirl takes focus in the third trailer, before the later ones eventually introduce greater threats to the DC Comics universe, namely with Gorilla Grodd and Brainiac. The only question is who’s going to be left standing after the battle – or more importantly, who’s left to join the fight, as there’s one more combatant (rumored to be Joker) joining next week.
Check out the epic trailer below and see what everything’s led up to thus far. It’s definitely going to be something good.
Injustice 2 releases on May 16th for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
