Up until this point, the only proper way that you could enjoy the Shovel Knight spin-off Specter of Torment was to pick up the game on the Nintendo Switch and PC. However, Yacht Club Games has announced that it’s coming to a few more platforms, with the adventure ready to go in a matter of a few days.
According to the publisher, the content is now available on the Wii U platform, and coming on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS on April 25th, as a free update to the original game.
As before, if players don’t have Shovel Knight already in their game library, they can buy Specter of Torment separately for $9.99, or purchase it as part of the Treasure Trove package with the game for $24.99, which also includes the Plague of Shadows spin-off, which features Plague Knight.
Yacht Club Games hasn’t provided an update on when the Xbox One version of Shovel Knight will be updated, but we should have more information soon.
For those that need a reminder of how awesome Specter of Torment is, you can check out our review. We’ve also included the full expansion description below:
“Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment is the action-packed prequel to Shovel Knight! Take control of Specter Knight, servant to the Enchantress, in a quest to recruit a cadre of knights and create the Order of No Quarter. With his scythe and preternatural agility at the ready, he can glide across the ground, clamber up walls, and command an arsenal of curious weapons.
If he carries out his duties, Specter Knight may have a chance at regaining his lost humanity and breaking his chains of servitude. But what cruel tricks might the Enchantress have up her sleeve? Experience perfect platforming, world-class visuals, all new stage designs, new music, new bosses, and even meet a friend or two in Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment!”
It’s an outstanding game for the price, and a fun way to conclude development on the Shovel Knight saga. Now, of course, we’re just left wondering…what’s next?!
