Every single one of us, at one point or another, has craved a game that lets us sit down with a friend, take control of our favorite Marvel super heroes, and spend the entire night kicking some super-villain ass. Remember how much fun you used to have teaming up with a pal on that old Captain America and The Avengers arcade game at the roller-skating rink? Well, Marvel Heroes Omega has revived that super-hero beat 'em up formula and given it a modern makeover with some genre-blending twists. If you have a PlayStation 4, then clear all your plans for the weekend: the closed beta begins today!
"Inspired in part by popular action-RPGs and massively multiplayer online games, Marvel Heroes Omega combines non-stop action and long form RPG progression features. Marvel fans and gamers can level-up, defeat infamous Marvel Super Villains and henchmen, collect rare loot, and grow in power. With thousands of hours of character progression and rewards, Marvel Heroes Omega comes packed with tons of replayability and increasing challenges for a free-to-play console title."
This game comes to you from the creative mind who brought us Diablo, so you can rest assured that the progression and loot systems are going to be addicting and gratifying. And let your friends know, because 2-player couch co-op will be enabled throughout the beta, which is scheduled to conclude on May 15. Check out some screenshots in the gallery below to get an idea of what's in store.
To start playing Marvel Heroes Omega before anyone else, there are a variety of Founder's Packs you can purchase from the PlayStation Store. There are multiple levels of support and pricing available, so choose the pack which most closely corresponds to your level of fandom. No matter what, you'll be guaranteed access to the entire closed beta.
“There’s never been a better time to be a Marvel fan,” said David Von Dorman, CEO at Gazillion. “With so many exciting films, television shows, and comics coming soon, we’re beyond excited to be able to bring the characters, costumes, and adventures of the Marvel Universe to life in living rooms around the world. Marvel Heroes Omega has been a true passion project and labor of love for everyone here at Gazillion - and we can’t wait for players to experience it for the first time themselves on consoles.”
Go check it out and, who knows, maybe we'll end up on the same team this weekend.
