As we wait to see any kind of official word on when the first trailer for Activision’s Call of Duty: WWII will drop, we’ve just received word that a pre-order campaign for the game could kick off as soon as next week.
According to Charlie Intel, a tweet sent out by a user by the name of @ParadgismShifti indicates that GameStop is set to receive promotional materials for two Activision games starting on Tuesday, April 25th.
The image in question is below, and, as you can see, one of the games is Destiny 2, while the other is a yet untitled “Activision title” – and, thus far, the only big title, other than Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, that’s on the company’s list for release this year is Call of Duty: WWII.
But taking a closer look at the ticket, we see a little more proof that it is, in fact, directed more towards Call. The top of the image has a mark reading “APRL24.END.COD,” indicating that it’s for the aforementioned Call of Duty title. Check out the picture below.
As such, Activision still hasn’t provided any sort of confirmation just yet that the series will be returning to World War II, despite obvious proof that it’s taking that route.
First off, a while back, Activision confirmed that the series would be returning to its roots when its latest Call of Duty game, Infinite Warfare, wasn’t quite as well-received as the publisher was hoping it would be. And Sledgehammer Games, the next developer working on a Call of Duty project, had been rumored to working on an “older” Call game for some time.
But then the physical proof started popping up, with bits and pieces of promotional work appearing with the title Call of Duty: WWII and featuring soldiers and other artwork from the older World War II era. And we just got word yesterday that the first trailer for the game is set to drop any time now. That could be today, sometime this weekend, or, as it would seem, maybe even sometime next week. You can see the promotional artwork in the attached gallery.
Whatever the case, we’ll let you know when Call of Duty: WWII is announced…and when to officially get excited.
