Super Bomberman R has been pretty good when it comes to getting free content thus far, particularly with a new map of packs that just arrived this week. But a new update from various sources indicate that some even bigger content could be on the way.
According to the site, three new characters from legacy Konami titles could be added to Super Bomberman R for the Nintendo Switch any day now. Two of them seem pretty ideal for the series, but the third one is so weird, we’re still trying to put our heads around how he’s going to fit into the bombing action.
Check out the images of the characters in the following pages, and we’ll let you know when Konami makes the official move to add them to the game’s roster.
Vic Viper Bomber
First up, we have the Vic Viper Bomber from the Gradius series, which is essentially just a character dressed up as the iconic ship from the shoot-em-up series. It’s a bit on the weird side, but a very effective outfit for those of you that know and love the Gradius series. And it makes us wonder if a Parodius character will be added down the road. You know, for real nostalgic purposes.
Next up is Belmont Bomber, a character based on the Castlevania franchise. As you can see, he’s definitely got a Bomberman-style appearance to him, but he also carries the trademark whip that the Belmont clan uses, as well as flowing blonde locks to give him a distinctive appearance. You have to wonder if you’ll be able to use that whip to pick up bombs and hurl them about.
Pyramid Head Bomber
And then there’s…this character from the Silent Hill saga. If any of you know your Pyramid Head lore, you’ll see that he’s probably the most bizarre addition to a Bomberman game. On top of that, even his cute look is unsettling, since his mask is so deformed and all. As you can see, even other characters in the game are startled by his appearance.
Now, Konami hasn’t confirmed these characters officially as of yet, but the images have appeared over at Famitsu, so they could very well be happening. Now the real question is…who would win in a fight, Simon Belmont or Pyramid Head? Looks like it’s about time to find out.
Super Bomberman R is available now for Nintendo Switch.
