Did you know The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has an impossible-to-open treasure chest? Located on a small island off the south coast of Hyrule, you’ll find the chest half-submerged in sand and water which has stymied all attempts to open it. Is the chest just a glitch, or did Nintendo put it there as a cruel joke? The ultimate unreachable desert island pirate treasure?
Redditor Pimpinpinguino eloquently explained why the chest is such a vexing problem…
“It's stuck in the ground and wont budge. You can grab it with magnesis, but it doesn't move at all. You can freeze it and then shoot arrows at it to try and get it to rocket out of the ground, but that doesn't work either. You can drop bombs on it, but nothing happens and it's too far under water for you to just open it like I did in the video. People have also tried clearing out the enemy base nearby hoping it ‘releases’ it from the ground, but that doesn't work.”
Ah, but our Redditor had a solution! Using a glitch found in the emulated Wii U version of Breath of the Wild, he managed to walk through the water, and pop the chest open, no problem. And what did he find in there?
Want even more impressive Breath of the Wild stunts? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Check out this guy beating an intimidating Lynel with only three hearts, and a bunch of other folks destroying them in even more ridiculous ways. How about this impressive 20-minute uninterrupted paragliding run? Or this guy who collected all of Breath of the Wild’s Korok seeds, only to get a rather crappy reward? You’re definitely going to want to know how to build yourself a go-kart. I wish I was a tenth as good at Breath of the Wild as these folks!
