Yesterday Nintendo unleashed Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and it seems the public is as krazy for karting as ever. Despite only being on sale for one day, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is, thus far, Amazon’s best-selling video game of 2017.
Amazon updates its Best Sellers of 2017 (So Far) lists daily, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is currently the top actual video game on the gaming list, sitting at the number three position. The top two positions are taken up pre-paid PlayStation Store cards. Hey, don’t feel bad Mario Kart, you still made the podium!
Of course, Amazon is far from the only retailer out there, so this doesn’t necessarily mean Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will be number one across the board, but still, it’s an indication the game started the race with a major boost. Again, Mario Kart has only been on sale one day, and it ranks above The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a game that’s sold a whopping 2.76 million copies, on Amazon’s charts.
For the record, here’s Amazon’s top 10 selling games of 2017 (so far):
1) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
2) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (NS)
3) Horizon Zero Dawn
4) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Wii U)
5) Resident Evil 7 (PS4)
6) Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix
7) Mass Effect: Andromeda (PS4)
8) Ghost Recon Wildlands
9) MLB The Show 17
10) Grand Theft Auto V (PS4)
An interesting list, that’s somewhat different than the sales numbers we get from NPD every month. We’ll see how the bodes for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
