We’ve seen a lot of board games as of late based on popular video games – who isn’t playing the Super Mario version of Monopoly, anyway? – but one particular one that’s caught our eye was recently unveiled over at IGN, in the form of a Clue board game that takes place around The Legend of Zelda’s universe.
That’s right, Merchoid is offering up the innovative take on the classic board game, but instead of asking, “Who murdered so-and-so in the woods?”, it’s more of an approach of “Who can possibly stop Ganendorf from taking over Hyrule?” It’s an interesting choice in terms of game design, but one that appears to be paying off.
See, not only do you have to guess who can defeat Ganondorf, but also where he’s hiding in the world of Hyrule, and what item you’ll use when it comes to stopping him. As you can see in the attached gallery, there are a number of items available, and it always helps to make the proper guess so you can see who will stop him.
The game features six different personality cards to choose from, based on popular characters from the game. These include Link, Zelda and more. There are also six metal hero movers, including the all-too familiar hook shot and boomerang, along with 16 boss encounter cards, so you’ll have more to deal with besides Ganon.
As you can see from the game board, there are a number of familiar locations to visit throughout Hyrule, including Zora’s Domain, Death Mountain and the Lost Woods. Fans should be right at home paying these locales a visit, even as they gather clues and try to figure out who can stop this tyrannical villain.
The game isn’t coming out until June 30th, but it never hurts to stop by the official page and get your pre-order in, because there are only a limited number of units left to order. If you’re a Legend of Zelda fan, you won’t want to miss this – even if Colonel Mustard isn’t around to accuse this time around. (Plus, he can’t really stop Ganondorf…now, can he?)
