Hands down, the best E3 presentation last year came from Sony, and everyone is excited to see what Sony has in store this year. According to Geoff Keighley, this year's Sony E3 conference will take place on Monday, June 12, and it should kick off late enough for everyone to get home from work or school, grab a pizza and some beer, and settle in to watch:
Of course the biggest moment from last year's E3 was the new God of War reveal, which was accompanied by one of the best gameplay segments we've ever seen. The crowd, in LA and across the country in homes everywhere, went wild when they saw Kratos emerge from the shadows for the first time. We're not sure if Sony can top that moment this year, but we would love to see them try. At any rate, we're at least expecting to see more God of War footage and hopefully snag a release date.
We're betting on some exclusive Destiny 2 footage during the show as well. The "PlayStation E3 Media Showcase" logo reminds us very much of the font and "zodiac" aesthetic used in Destiny. Whether or not that was intentional we're not sure, but we do know that Activision's partnership with Sony is still going strong and Destiny 2 will have exclusive perks available only to PS4 and PS4 Pro owners. While we're expecting a ton of Destiny 2 gameplay footage May 18 during Bungie's special gameplay stream, there will very likely be a few surprises left to spring at E3.
Call of Duty: WWII will also very likely show up in a big way. We've already seen that PlayStation 4 owners will get 30-day early access to new multiplayer maps and DLC, which has been the standard Call of Duty agreement for a while now, so we're hoping that Activision saved a little somethin' somethin' for Sony's showcase. Maybe an extensive first look at multiplayer or the Nazi zombies mode?
June 12 can't come soon enough. With Project Scorpio on the horizon, we know that Sony is going to unload some huge surprises to keep everyone engaged with its brand. In the console war, there's only one real winner: consumers.
