We're officially over the launch-window game drought. No more jokes about the Nintendo Switch only have one great game to play, because now we're drowning in them. Following the release of Kamkiko, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and others, Nintendo sent out an update today to remind us that there are more treasures on the way, with one arriving imminently.
First up, you have a new free demo to download and play for Blaster Master Zero. This classic action game recently received a sizable update which brings new modes and new characters (including Gunvolt!). The demo is available now:
"Blaster Master Zero, the 8-bit style action-adventure game, is getting a few new updates – starting with a free demo on Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch console. If you were curious about the game, now’s your chance to try it out and blast some mutants. And if you have the game already, the version 1.2 update adds some fun new experiences, like a new “hard mode” that you can access after clearing the game. Also new is the EX Character Mode, which allows you to play through the entire game as one of many new DLC characters that will be available for purchase."
We're not done with the old-school goodness yet, though. Next Tuesday NBA Playgroundos will revive the classic NBA arcade goodness that you loved growing up with games like NBA Jam serving as its inspiration.
"Classic NBA arcade action is back! Take your 'A' game to the playground and beat the best in high-flying 2-on-2 basketball action. Collect your favorite players from a massive roster of current and retired NBA superstars from every team. NBA Playgrounds will be available on May 9 in Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch console."
Those are the games you'll want to look out for on the Switch, but there are other goodies in store for 3DS and Wii U owners as well. On the Wii U you'll want to check out the TurboGrafx 16 classic Bonk's Revenge on the Virtual Console, and you'll find that Street Fighter games on the Wii U and 3DS are all discounted for a limited time.
