"For the first time, experience the epic stories of the undead saga that started it all for Activision’s Call of Duty, together in one package: Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles releases on May 16th, first on the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 4, and includes eight of the most beloved Zombies maps from previous Treyarch-developed Call of Duty games, including World at War, Black Ops and Black Ops II. The maps have been completely remastered from the ground-up, delivering many of the classic, thrilling Zombies origins storylines with stunning visuals, enhanced audio and new gameplay, all updated for today’s generation of consoles."
Now in addition to the basics, which you've likely already heard if you're a huge Call of Duty Zombies fan, Treyarch also went over several details that we've been waiting for, including the price and exclusive bonuses items included with the collection.
We begin, though, with an exciting launch event: 8 Days of the Undead. Keep scrolling to learn more.
8 Days of the Undead
When you pick up Zombies Chronicles on May 16, you'll have a little over a week to dive in and enjoy a worldwide celebration with zombie slayers everywhere. It's always fun to play a game at launch, knowing that you're part of a huge concurrent community, but Treyarch is making sure it's worth your while:
"To celebrate launch day on May 16th, Activision and Treyarch will kick off the “8 Days of the Undead,” during which players of Black Ops III on all platforms and players of Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles on PS4 will be able to earn double XP rewards, engage in community challenges and receive a host of free exclusive content including a Zombies calling card, weapon camo, new Gobble Gums and a PS4 theme."
If you don't make it for the 8 Days celebration, don't worry: you still have plenty of bonuses to look forward to.
Every player who purchases Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles will be entitled to a little care-package full of bonus items and rewards. Your buying price also nabs you:
- 20 Vials of Liquid Divinium
2 All-New Whimsical GobbleGums
Exclusive Zombies Pack-A-Punch Weapon Camo
Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles Dynamic System Theme for PlayStation 4 (exclusive pre-order incentive), featuring artwork by renowned artist
Now about that buying price. Treyarch has officially revealed how much you'll be shelling out for this ambitious undead expansion, and some of you are going to be a little upset.
Zombies Chronicles Will Cost $30
There are a few things you need to know before you clear your schedule and call in a few sick days next week to play Zombie Chronicles. The first is that this is a digital-only expansion to Black Ops III, and not a standalone product. You will not be able to play this game unless you already own Black Ops III.
The second is that this is a brand new expansion which is not covered in the Black Ops III season pass. Even if you own Black Ops III, you'll still need to toss in your $30 before you can play these new maps with your buddies. We know it's a steep price, but in addition to the bonus content above, you are getting quite a lot for your money. In case you need reminding, here's everything you can look forward to in Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles:
