Injustice 2 Mobile hits the iTunes iOS app store and the Google Play store on May 11, and it's totally free to play. A while ago when we were attending an Injustice 2 preview event, we were able to go hands on with Injustice 2 Mobile. You can find our full preview right here, but during the event we asked a question that the representative couldn't answer right away. We wanted to know if playing Injustice 2 Mobile would yield any rewards in the console version of the game. Today, we finally got our answer.
This morning NetherRealm released a brand new overview trailer for Injustice 2 which dives a little deeper into the mobile version of the game and its features. In the trailer, it's explicitly mentioned that by completing missions and challenges in Injustice 2 Mobile, players will be able to unlock exclusive gear and content for the console version of Injustice 2.
This is the first time that NetherRealm has officially confirmed that there would be a link between the two games, and that playing one would yield results in the other. It's something we all assumed would happen, and a system they had in place for the original Injustice: Gods Among Us, but it's nice to know for sure. It's especially nice since Injustice 2 Mobile will be completely free to play, so you basically have a no-hassle method of obtaining some rare gear for your console fighters.
From our preview: "No more stationary characters taking swipes at each other. In Injustice 2 Mobile your players can actually move across the entire plane of battle. You'll swipe to dash back and forth, and lunge in for attacks. Simple taps will execute your combos, but now each character has three special moves that they can execute on the fly.
"Chaining combos and special moves will be key to maximizing damage, and of course, each character has his or her own unique Super move. The Super moves are exactly the same on mobile as in the console version, believe it or not."
The combat in this game feels full and robust, which is surprising considering it uses the touch-screen entirely. Don't forget to check it out this Thursday, and start building up your fighters so you'll be able to unlock that sweet gear when the console versions launch on May 16!
