SK Gaming just became the team that is “Everywhere you want to be.” Visa Europe announced that they have become a title sponsor for SK Gaming:
Visa's Executive Director of Marketing, Gary Twelvetree, declared their sponsorship and entry into esports and Formula E are long term goals, “Pro gaming has changed the way we see sport in recent years, opening access to people the world over and creating a surge in its popularity. We see huge potential for the industry and this deal sees Visa ideally placed to harness and drive that. We're looking forward to a successful season supporting the next-gen athletes at SK Gaming to do what they do best - win.”
With the sponsorship, Visa offers up some great fan experiences starting at CES Las Vegas this coming weekend. SK Gaming’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players Gabriel 'FalleN' Toledo, Epitacio 'TACO' de Melo and legendary SK Gaming racer Danny 'Husky Engels will attend some events such as gym sessions, Laserquest, and actual racing.
The entrance of companies such as VISA into the esports world is a telling indication of what they think is the growth of the sport. This could be just the beginning of a deluge of major sponsors coming into the space.
