No. 7 Immortals CSGO Wins First StarSeries Season 3 NA Qualifier

  • -

Things keep getting better for Immortals. The No. 7 squad in the WWG CSGO Team Rankings was recently revealed as the third invite to the DreamHack Austin event and just last night managed to qualify for the StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season Three Finals.

The sixteen team event awaits just four more teams with three European and one North American qualifier still waiting to find its victor.

Immortals took down No. 17 Team Liquid 2-1 in the finals of the first North American qualifier even with a surprisingly weak performance out of the newest member of the team, Lincoln "fnx" Lau who finished with a -11 kill-to-death ratio across the three maps.

The Brazilian squad has been working its way up the rankings as of late, performing well in North American Counter-Strike while also putting up a strong showing at the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice event. Making a semifinals run with a best-of-three win over No. 6 North in the quarterfinals. Immortals took down several top tier teams in the group stage to include No. 1 Astralis with its only loss coming at the hands of No. 5 FaZe Clan.

Immortals went 3-1 last week, walking over Winterfox and splitting 1-1 with Cloud9. Immortals has peaked in the rankings until it can attend more international competitions such as this one where it will get the chance to prove that it's run at Katowice is going to become a trend. A lacking strength of schedule in the North American region will keep most teams who don't win a title out of the top six.

The event is set to take place April 4 to April 9 in Kiev, Ukraine and boast a prize pool of $300,000. Immortals joins a list of teams including several top ten squads from the WWG CSGO Team Rankings.
