Ex-CLG CSGO Player hazed To Play for Liquid in iBP Spring Invitational

  • -

It appears Team Liquid will be using James "hazed" Cobb as a stand-in for the upcoming iBUYPOWER Spring Invitational. The former Counter Logic Gaming player has been registered with the team as the fifth player.

Team Liquid was left without a fifth following the announcement that Jacob "Pimp" Winneche would be leaving the team and returning to his home country of Denmark.

"Replacing a player of Pimp’s caliber is not easy, but we are working hard to find someone that will enable our CS:GO squad to compete at the highest international level - our coaching staff and management is diligently pursuing top tier talent, and we will update the CSGO community as our search progresses,"  Victor "Nazgul" Goossens said in the announcement of the players request to depart the organization.

hazed was a long-time member of the roster that was picked up by CLG and even made the switch over to in-game leading for a time before he and CLG separated. He has been without a set squad since that move was made.

Team Liquid will take on compLexity in the opening round, another squad that has seen struggles and roster moves as of late. The Jason Lake owned organization was recently knocked out of the Esports Championship Series by Bee's Money Crew and also parted ways with Michael "Uber" Stapells who had been with the team since August.

Team Liquid CS:GO roster:

Nick "nitr0" Cannella
Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski
Josh "jdm64" Marzano
Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz
James "hazed" Cobb (substitute)

The iBUYPOWER Invite gives North American Counter-Strike teams a chance they may not otherwise have at participating in and possibly taking home a first place title. With only the very top of North American Counter-Strike competing in most standalone events, some of the less prominent squads will most likely get a shot at the prize.

The event is absent any team other than a falling OpTic Gaming from the top ten of the WWG CSGO Team Rankings. Team Liquid, Cloud9, and OpTic are all representatives of the rankings, although none have been able to compete on the international scene with any success as of late.

iBUYPOWER team list:

  • No. 20 Team Liquid
  • No. 7 OpTic Gaming
  • No. 17 Cloud9
  • Luminosity Gaming
  • compLexity
  • NRG Esports
  • Misfits
  • Selfless
