The rumored roster move has come true as Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander has joined the Danish powerhouse Astralis in place of the recently departed ex-in-game leader Finn "karrigan" Andersen. The former Heroic star will join an Astralis team that has not met expectations over the past year since their inception after leaving their previous organization Team SoloMid.

The new addition will bring some serious firepower as well as a fresh approach to the game as gla1ve will serve as the team's new in-game leader. Helping to lead Heroic to some quality victories during his time with the organization he helped form, his ability to steer a team is not in doubt. Electing to bring him over, the current members of Astralis certainly believe in the system as well.

In the announcement to Astralis’ website, gla1ve expressed his longtime dream of joining the tier one team someday and how it feels to reach that goal.

"Since the ESL One Cologne Major my biggest dream has been to play for Astralis and today that dream has come true. It is truly a great honour for me to get the opportunity to play and work with such talented people," gla1ve said.

He went on to mention the less than stellar results his new team has had recently.

"Astralis have been through a rough patch lately and I will do my very best to get them back to where they belong." He added.

Astralis founder and managing director Frederik Byskov also spoke on the recent results and the future of the team with gla1ve.

"We have not lived up to our own expectations and goals in recent months and therefore I am excited to see what Lukas can bring with him to the team: A new style of leadership and a different approach to the game. He has a big task ahead of him. The next couple of months will be trial & error, but I'm confident he'll have the team prepared for the major in January."

The move also solidifies Astralis’ major spot, having used gla1ve as a stand-in during the previous event alongside their coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen who filled in for an ill Peter "dupreeh" Rothmann.

Astralis will show off their new lineup in just a few weeks in Atlanta for ELEAGUE starting on November 11.

Full Astralis lineup:

  • Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth
  • Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz
  • Peter "dupreeh" Rothmann
  • Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye
  • Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander
  • Danny "zonic" Sørensen (Coach)

Heroic has quickly filled in the void, picking up fresh talent Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen from Tricked eSport, a lower tier Danish team.
