Call of Duty: World League is wasting no time in dominating 2017, as the tournament has announced a team-up with the team at Gfinity for the forthcoming CWL London event, which will take place at the Gfinity Arena on January 28th and 29th.
The company confirmed this partnership on its site today, marking the fourth year that Gfinity has partnered with Activision for a Call of Duty-related esports event.
16 teams will take part in the tournament, descending upon the UK’s dedicated esports venue as they compete for a $25,000 prize pool and CWL Pro Points, which count towards the rest of the year. Gfinity is expected to announce the line-up of teams that will take part in the tournament over the next few days, though a few popular squads are expected to be announced.
Martin Wyatt, Head of Partner Relations at Gfinity, noted about the partnership. "We are proud to continue working with the CWL. Our team will push to innovate and deliver world class international esports events that fans around the world love and that deliver value and joy for our partners. CWL London in January is going to be a great kick-off for us.”
This is just the beginning for Call of Duty World League’s jam-packed year, as various tournaments are being planned, where the best of the best will compete in matches that are sure to be broadcast live both across MLG.com and through Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, as well as other venues. It did really well last year, so there’s no reason why it shouldn’t see a repeat success for 2017, and the CWL London event should help it get off on the right foot.
We’ll bring you continuing coverage on CWL as it happens, including the teams that are involved and the match-ups that you’ll want to watch out for.
