DreamHack Masters Vegas Closed Qualifier Kicks Off

by Steven Cropley

The sixteen European teams vying for a spot at DreamHack Masters 2017 in Vegas begin competition today. With exactly half of the sixteen teams being ranked in the top 25 of the WWG CSGO Team Rankings, the competition will be fierce with only the top four qualifying. In addition to qualification, the top four teams will receive travel and accommodation.

First round matches:

No. 6 FaZe Clan vs. EPG

Flipsid3 Tactics vs. No. 16 Heroic

No. 18 Gambit vs. Norse

Pride vs. No. 10 GODSENT

No. 11 mousesports vs. BIG

No. 15 HellRaisers vs. Tricked

No. 19 fnatic vs. Japaleno

DarkPassage vs. No. 12 G2 Esports

With the top four qualifying, expect the semifinal matchups to get intense and feature a large majority of the eight invited teams to be present. No. 6 FaZe are riding high into 2017 and will be looking to improve on that with a qualification here. Many of the other invited teams are looking to prove to not only the fans but themselves that the peak has not been reached. GODSENT, mousesports, fnatic, and G2 have all had a year plagued by rough patches with only a few moments of light spread thing throughout 2016. 2017 is a new year and these teams will be looking to start off on the right foot.

Steven's picks:

  • No. 6 FaZe
  • No. 18 Gambit
  • No. 11 mousesports
  • No. 19 fnatic
