Gambit Gaming had no problem dispatching a reunited Fnatic team that saw their roster revamped after a quarterfinal finish at the ELEAGUE Major barely two weeks ago. With the win Gambit will take on Virtus.pro in the Group B Winners’ Match against No. 3 Virtus.pro who beat Misfits earlier today.

Playing on the newly reinvented Inferno, Gambit was steady and looked to be playing once again with that SWAT team like precision in their 16-8 win in the best of one.

It didn’t start great for the Russian squad losing the pistol round, but they would rebound quickly taking the next seven rounds in a row. Fnatic would need to call timeout as they were being outplayed and outpositioned on the map.

It was Gambit’s uses of the “molitav” that was frustrating for the Swedes as Gambit was landing them with uncanny like skill. They used them and effectively cleared out sites, pushing Fnatic to places they were not accustomed.

After the timeout, Fnatic rallied a bit, and at the switch was now only down 6-9.

It was a pitched affair for the first four rounds of the second half, and that would be where all the good things would end for Fnatic as Gambit would play an almost impenetrable CT side of defense which frustrated visibly Fnatic.
