FaZe Clan, who is playing with Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad as a stand-in until the end of DreamHack Masters Las Vegas, gutted out a tough match against a resilient Renegades team on Mirage 16-14 in their opening match in Group D.

However it was Renegades who started the match by winning the Terrorist side pistol round. Both sides would trade punches with no team winning two rounds in a row until the seventh when FaZe Clan took the seventh and eighth. After a ninth round win by Renegades, they would win only one more round on the Terrorist side of the map and at the switch the score was 11-4, FaZe Clan.

Here is where it gets crazy and Renegades makes their run.

It was the stand-in for Renegades, Simon “atter” Attersam, which would win a crucial 1v1 in Round 16 that helped his team roll off 9 of the next 10 rounds closing the gap to 12-13

FaZe had seen all they wanted to see and used a tactical timeout to settle down and come up with a plan. Immediately following the timeout FaZe won 4 of the next 5 rounds to secure the 16-14 victory.

Renegades will play Natus Vincere at 2:15pm PST in the elimination match for Group D

FaZe Clan will matchup against mousesports in the Group D Winners’ match at 7:55pm PST.
