Gambit has been turning heads since the start of the 2017 when they showed they can compete with the elite teams in the world by virtue of a strong finish at the ELEAGUE Major.
Starting on the Terrorist side, Gambit set the tone early by taking the first seven rounds, two of those by bomb plant. In the first round of the match, Mihail 'Dosia' Stolyarov managed a triple kill and Gambit fell into a groove that Virtus.pro couldn’t match.
Gambit’s in-game leader, Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko, made the call that you don’t fix what’s not broken. He took his band of Russian teammates to the B bomb site eight straight rounds.
Gambit started off on T-side with a B execution in a back and forth round that turned out in their favor. The anti-ecos were fast and succeeded plays on the same bombsite. In the first gun round and the following one,
Virtus.pro finally became aware and stopped the B site pushes and then managed to secure four rounds in a row by kills. However, Gambit restored order in the 11th Round when Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov and Rustem "mou" Telepov won a 2v2 late, giving Gambit a 8-4 lead. Jarosław "pashaBiceps" Jarząbkowski recorded a triple kill in the 14th round as if to say Virtus.pro isn’t done, but Gambit would win the last round ending the half 10-5, Gambit.
The Polish squad came out in Round 16 getting a huge boost from Paweł "byali" Bieliński who served up a triple kill, winning the round. VP would get a bomb plant detonation for a Round 17 win, but the momentum shifted once again as Gambit would take the next six out of nine rounds securing the win.
Gambit will now wait to be place in the quarterfinal bracket while Virtus.pro will play Fnatic to see who will join Gambit.
