Now that the qualification process has been completed, the Esports Championship series has announced the teams invited to participate in its Developmental League.
The ECS Developmental League is a way for teams to fight their way to a chance in the ECS league formed by Twitch and FACEIT. The league will run from February 28 through March 17 and be split into two separate divisions, North American and European, with both leading to a spot season three of the ECS league.
The teams will be fighting for one of four spots in the top-tier league where the world's best compete for a spot in the LAN finals and a slice of the prize pool. The league uses $1.75 million to provide teams with support that includes housing and lodging before putting leftovers in the purse.
Four teams in the WWG CSGO Team Rankings made it into the invited list from Europe while only one of the North American squads holds a place. No. 5 North is the highest ranked invite followed by No. 10 Gambit who has been showing a steady improvement over recent months. The other two sit much lower in the rankings at No. 16 and 20, Kinguin and Flipsid3 Tactics respectively.
Renegades have gone 2-8 in its last ten, however, still managed to hold onto No. 19 in the rankings to be the only representative from the WWG CSGO Team Rankings in the North American division of the developmental league.
