CD Projekt Red has just announced an official GWENT tournament open to all players, and there's some serious cash on the line. It's called GWENT Challenger, established in partnership with the ESL, and challenger qualifiers will be kicking off soon. There's a total prize pool of $100K, with the first place winner taking home $60,000.

"The tournament will pit 4 best players from the community against professional gamers: Trump (Jeffrey Shih), Lifecoach (Adrian Koy), Noxious (Kacem Khilaji) and ppd (Peter Dager). GWENT Challenger finalists will compete for a total prize pool of $100,000."

If you'd like to register for the qualifiers, you have until March 22 to sign up. You can sign up at the official site (link here). 256 players will play in the first round on April 8, with 32 players advancing to round two, which will play our on April 9. After those two divisions of 16 face off with one another, a final four challengers will advance to challenge those four professional players listed above for a shot at the prize money.

“It’s a real privilege to observe how active GWENT players are in the realm of competitive gaming. Community-powered tournaments like The Passiflora Championship, The Seven Cats Brawl or The Gwentlemen’s Open are a source of inspiration for the entire team, and we definitely want this part of GWENT to grow,” said Paweł Burza, Community Manager, CD PROJEKT RED.

“GWENT: The Witcher Card Game was created because The Witcher community wanted it. Now we’re seeing more and more gamers wanting to play GWENT competitively, so here we are with a chance to play against some heavy-hitters, and a prize pool to spice things up,” said Marcin Iwiński, Co-founder, CD PROJEKT RED. “I can’t wait to see who wins!” Iwiński adds.

GWENT has been in beta for a while now, and players have been offering a constant stream of feedback for CD Projekt Red. After innumerable balancing changes and tweaks, it would appear that the dec team believes that GWENT is ready for competitive play. If you think you have what it takes, sign up and give it a shot.
