GEICO has renewed its marketing partnership with ELEAGUE, the professional esports organization formed from the partnership between Turner Sports and WME | IMG according to a press release dated April 5, 2017.
"GEICO will continue to serve as the official auto and home insurance of ELEAGUE," the release says.
The partnership will see various activities taking place including marketing on television, streaming platforms, social, and at ELEAGUE competitions.
“As a long-time supporter of esports, GEICO has been a brand that uniquely understands how to foster community around the excitement of the competition,” said Seth Ladetsky, senior vice president of sales, Turner Sports in the press release. “We are thrilled to have them back for a second year of ELEAGUE, as we expand into new gaming genres, starting with the Street Fighter Invitational, and tap into new groups of passionate esports enthusiasts.”
Also from the press release, Bill Brower, GEICO assistant vice president of Marketing gave the following statement.
“The esports community just spills over with energy, enthusiasm and excitement,” he said, “and we’re very happy to be part of it. We know this is a great opportunity for us to connect with a unique audience, and we felt welcome from day one. It’s a real pleasure for GEICO to partner with ELEAGUE in this new dynamic world.”
The ELEAGUE Street Fighter® V Invitational is currently taking place with the preliminaries starting last week. The top 24 players will move on from the preliminaries to compete in groups of six weekly starting on April 7.
- Group A competes Friday, April 7
- Group B – Friday, April 21
- Group C – Friday, May 5
- Group D – Friday, May 12.
Matches will be played live from the G Fuel ELEAGUE Arena in Atlanta. Fans will be able to tune in each of the above-mentioned Friday's to catch the action. The quarterfinals will be aired via Twitch and YouTube at 6 pm EST while the semifinals and finals will be aired live on TBS as well as Twitch and YouTube at 10 pm EST.
