Not so Immortal in the Mid Lane, Pobelter Headlines WWG's Most Disappointing Player Award

This week on The Invade, Matt Best was joined by Mark Horner and Matt Hempstead to hand out WWG's NA LCS and EU LCS Spring Split Awards.

Disappointment isn't a warming feeling. We've all been there before. "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed." Pretty much the worst feeling you can have. In the 2017 Spring Split, that phrase should be put towards Eugene "Pobelter" Park, the Immortals mid laner.

Now, you shouldn't be mad at the mid laner as he had to adjust to four new team members including a rookie AD carry. Pobelter often looked out of place and lost but at the end of the day, the team played well enough to avoid relegation and actually had playoff aspirations towards the end of the split.

According to Mark Horner, Pobelter stood out among the rest and not in a great way. "For me the most disappointing player of the 2017 spring split was Poebelter," said Horner. "Poebelter struggled throughout the spring split, as he was constantly pressured and losing his lane to opposing mid laners."

Horner then dug deeper and looked at a statistical anomaly in the mid laners career. "Poebelter was also often caught out of position leading to an uncharacteristically high death count for IMT's midlaner."

As previously mentioned, the Immortals didn't miss out on the playoffs by a long shot. It wasn't like the team was terrible, it was just that they were terribly inconsistent. With strong play from Pobelter, maybe their fortune could have changed according to Horner. "Overall IMT didn't miss playoffs by much and if they received a stronger performance from Poebelter, I think that they don't miss out on the spring split playoffs."
